In this course, you will learn about creating and administering and running a geodesign project using Geodesignhub. This course is aimed at the geodesign enthusiast and no special technical skills are required. This course covers preparing the data and setting up a geodesign study and also running and administering it. If you have GIS skills, that's great, if you don't, please don't worry, you can just skip those sections, we have automatic tools for map creation.
The “future of a place” is a very complex and
challenging problem. There are many forces that impact a place: social
changes, economic shocks, natural disasters, political environment.
Decision makers are tasked to manage the place for the future and it is a
very difficult problem to make the correct decision given the past data
and records and the future projections at the same time managing the
current social and political viewpoints. How does one make a decision
given this? How do you know if the current policies are good enough for
tomorrow? How do you manage the lands you have? It is for problems like
these Geodesignhub provides a solution. The solution for these problems
is not more data or analysis (although that helps), it is the political
negotiations between parties around the management of a place. It is a
problem of co-ordination between different entities, of building
information and knowledge.
Geodesignhub covers all the foundational elements of
geodesign and you will learn about it in this course: How does the study
area operate? How to define it? How to assess if it is working well?
How might it be altered? The impacts of these changes and finally how to
facilitate negotiations aver the futures? Once a negotiation is concluded, how do you manage the execution of it?
Geodesignhub provides a practical, easy to understand way to get started with Geodesign. After being introduced, you can immediately implement it in your day-to-day work and save time and money in their design practice.
